Bay Star EMS. (877) 777-7400
Bay Star Ambulance Fleet -
performs all vehicle maintenance and repair work in-house and has a fully equipped maintenance shop to provide routine maintenance and repairs to our fleet. The maintenance shop is 6,000 square feet and has hydraulic vehicle lifts. All repairs can be made in a timely manner, achieving maximum reliability and life expectancy of our fleet.
Direct control of maintenance guarantees that our units are safe, reliable and available in numbers sufficient to meet normal as well as extraordinary demands. Our vehicles are kept in top operating condition.
Mechanics make repairs ranging from engine overhauls and electrical problems, to specialized modifications in the patient compartment. Our mechanics are certified in diesel and gas engine repair, electrical system and brake repair, as well as heating and cooling system repair. Mechanics are on call 24 hours a day.
Our preventive maintenance program pursues the goal of zero critical failures by constantly monitoring component life and mechanic performance. A critical failure is any incident in which a specific ambulance dispatched to or needed for a call cannot respond to the patient or complete a call, due to mechanical problems with the vehicle itself.
Every Bay Star's ambulance receives scheduled services at internals of 5,000 miles. Certain vehicles require customized service intervals, depending on the year of manufacture, type of transmission, chassis and brake system. We also adjust the preventive maintenance program for administrative and support vehicles, since they are subject to less strenuous use than our ambulances.
Daily service and record keeping is performed on each unit. A visual inspection, refueling and checking of all fluid levels and inventory of all equipment is performed every night. We take pride in the cleanliness of our vehicles.
